John Paul and Craig’s 1st meeting in the 6th form Common Room. John Paul observes Sonny bullying Craig, and later sets off the fire alarm when he sees Sonny and Justin follow Craig again as he didn’t think it was a fair fight.

John Paul studies alone in a classroom when Craig enters. After initial justification of their own behaviour, the pair start to bond over their need to get the grades to escape from their families and Hollyoaks and go off to lunch together.

Clare is left running scared after discovering the evidence that O.B., Mel and Sophie have against her. Craig, Steph and Darren are left running The Dog in the Pond after Jake, who was left in charge, ends up getting drunk. Olivia finally gains the courage to stand up to Jess, but all are left shocked when Sam bursts into the pub, armed with a petrol canister and lighter!

The customers in The Dog in the Pond are horrified when Sam bursts in holding a lighter, having doused the pub in petrol. As they struggle to find a way out, Calvin attempts to save Sophie from Sam's clutches by smashing a glass on his head, causing him to drop the lighter and the pub to explode. Sam is killed after being crushed by rubble, having been left to die by Russ. Joe goes to save a trapped Olivia, but they are killed when the alcohol from behind the bar falls and causes a second explosion, and Zoe learns of Joe's death by calling his cellphone - tracing it to one of the body bags. Sophie dies in Russ's arms, and just as Justin learns of Mel's death, he finds Sophie's body. Also, Calvin temporarily puts his problems with the Deans behind him as he saves Jake from the fire.

The aftermath of the fire at The Dog affects everyone in Hollyoaks. Justin mourns the loss of his sisters, Russ feels guilt over his actions regarding Sophie, Zoe regrets not telling Joe she had feelings for him, and Kris doubts the sincerity of Jessica's grief over Olivia. Meanwhile, O.B. remains unconscious, and Clare searches for the proof he had that she cheated on her husband. Jack, Frankie, and the Dean siblings have been displaced from their home, while they are grateful to Calvin for saving Jake's life.

Bedside Manner

O.B. wakes up and is devastated to learn that Mel has died. Clare, meanwhile, tries to make sure that O.B. is unable to tell Max about her fling with Warren. Justin visits Louise to pack up his sisters' things to take with him on his trip to visit his mother. Sarah knows Amy is hiding something from her, but is ultimately distracted by discussions with Nancy about Rhys and Gilly.

John Paul goes to see Claire to sort out his first gig at the Loft. As he goes to school he sees Sonny bullying Craig in the village; he asks Craig if he’s still up for the football tryouts with him. The pair go to get changed and Craig finds his mum put in odd socks including one pink sock triggering more bullying from Sonny. John Paul is annoyed at the tryouts that Michaela is interested in Sonny. Michaela is annoyed he is so perfect, and John Paul says he’d swap shoes any day.

Craig and Sonny wait with Frankie and Calvin to face the head over their debacle after the trials. They are both given a warning and Sonny refuses to shake hands and make peace. Craig decides he can’t handle Sonny and will leave school. When he has met John Paul, his mate questions why he’d return to school to just give up. The pair see Jake and Carmel outside the salon who give Craig ideas for jobs. By the end of the conversation he is ready to return to school!

After he goes they do get off together but are interrupted when Sarah receives an emergency phone call that Amy has been in a car crash.
